Question from the field: For math in the 4th grade AGLI 11108: Order
three or more numbers; if the task is "put the following numbers in the
correct order includes the statement "from smallest to largest" would
that be considered a prompt or template.
Thanks,
Carole
Hi Carole,
Thank you for the question. Based on the information you have provided it does not appear that adding "from smallest to largest" would affect the connection of the task to the AGLI. Further information regarding an assessment task can be found in Step 5 of the Administration Manual (pages 11-14). Simply having "from smallest to largest" in the task also does not seem to prompt or guide the student. As outlined in the Administration Manual:
Natural cues refer to a set of initial directions provided before a student begins to perform an assessment task. A natural cue or initial set of directions:
· should not be considered a cue or a prompt;
· does not affect the Level of Independence documented: and
· is presented in a format best suited for the student’s mode of communication and abilities.
Having smallest to largest appears to make the task more detailed in what is expected of student performance, therefore this would need to be reflected in the VE and student performance calculation. Please let us know if you have further questions.
