Teacher wants to know if the student may use a calculator.

Hi Teri,
Thank you for sending your question to the training team. Teachers may allow a student to use a calculator if it is appropriate for that student; however the questions is does the use of the calculator affect the student's level of independence. Guidance by the Department is as long as it does not affect the construct of the assessment, further information can be found on pages 21-24 of the NYSAA Administration Manual (September 2008). For this AGLI 41305 and SAT41305B, it does not appear that the use of the calculator would affect the construct.
