Hi Kelly:
Just a few more questions that I need some clarification:
1. Grade 3 ELA AGLI # 32105 "attend to familiar text(s) and recognize:
"who", "what", "where", "when", and/or "how" in those text(s)"
Task: The student will attend to a text, recognize, and answer "who"
and "what" questions.
VE: DCS with 3 steps:
1. Attend to text
2. Answer "who" question
3. Answer "what" question
My question is, "Are the steps correct? or does the word "recognize"
need to be in the steps since it is in the task?
RESPONSE: THERE ARE A
FEW DIFFERENT THINGS THE TEACHER COULD DO. YOU COULD RECOMMEND THAT THE TASK BE MODIFIED TO INDICATE "...RECOGNIZE "WHO" AND "WHAT" BY ANSWERING QUESTIONS" OR STEPS 2 AND 3 COULD BE MODIFIED TO READ 'RECOGNIZE AND ANSWER "WHO" QUESTION' AND 'RECOGNIZE AND ANSWER "WHAT" QUESTION. IT APPEARS THAT THE TASK IS INDICATING THAT THE STUDENT IS GOING TO RECOGNIZE "WHO" AND "WHAT" IN A TEXT BY ANSWERING QUESTIONS RELATED TO "WHO" AND "WHAT".
2. HS SS AGLI # 32104 "identify weather conditions"
Task: The student will identify weather conditions by matching
pictures of various weather conditions with the correct term
VE: A worksheet with weather icons on the left side and the weather
words on the right. The student is to draw a line from the picture to
the correct weather word.
My question is, "Is this sufficient or is it necessary for the student
to identify the weather condition for that day?"
RESPONSE: THE ASSESSMENT TASK THAT YOU HAVE INDICATED DOES NOT ASK FOR THE STUDENT TO IDENTIFY THE WEATHER CONDITION FOR THAT DAY SO THERE WOULD BE NO REASON TO EXPECT TO SEE THAT IN THE WORK PRODUCT. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE VE AND THE TASK THAT YOU HAVE PROVIDED APPEAR TO ALIGN WITH EACH OTHER.
