Here's a couple of questions that have come out of doing collegial reviews...
1) One LSET in reviewing page 19 of the administration manual -(creating an original assessment task) asked if on the data summary sheet they had to underline the verb or verb phrase or double underline the direct object; I told her no, that those were guidelines to assist LSET's in creating original assessment tasks ...Was this correct?
RESPONSE: YOU ARE CORRECT. THE UNDERLINE AND DOUBLE UNDERLINE WERE USED IN THE EXAMPLES TO ASSIST TEACHERS IN INDENTIFYING THE VERB/VERB PHRASE AND DIRECTION OBJECT IN THE SAMPLES SHOWN.
2) On the Grade 5 Math AGLI, Required Component 1 Strand:Number Sense and Operations (page 22 of the frameworks) AGLI 11111 states 'compare two unit fractions, ½, ¼, and 1/3 using concrete objects; the SAT says the 'student will compare ½ and ¼-(does not mention the 1/3)...even though the AGLI says AND...I am assuming that in scoring we will be able to score it since the SAT and AGLI are not in alignment...please advise-thanks
RESPONSE: AS YOU INDICATED THE AGLI STATES "COMPARE TWO UNIT FRACTIONS, 1/2, 1/4 AND 1/3 USING CONCRETE OBJECTS." THE INTENT WAS TO COMPARE TWO OF THE FRACTIONS INDICATED - DO A STUDENT COULD COMPARE 1/2 AND 1/4, OR COMPARE 1/2 AND 1/3, ETC. THE SAMPLE ASSESSMENT TASK (SAT#11111) PROVIDED ON PAGE 22 DOES ALIGN TO THE AGLI AND MEETS THE INTENT. THIS WOULD BE ACCEPTBALE AT SCORING.
