Teacher Initials next to student's self-corrects

Does the teacher need to initial or annotate when the student self-corrects? We saw datafolios at collegial where this was not done.
Our impression is that the teacher initials when the teacher corrects and that an annotation if the student corrects would be nice...but not required.

Yes student work can be completed in pencil and self correcting is fine. Yes - It is always helpful for a teacher to annotate. However it is not required. Thanks for sending your follow up question. Take care,
