Discrete Trial Data Sheet

On a discrete trial data sheet, is it acceptable for only one K#/S# to be used? For example, on AGLI #12106, only Key #1 (find your desk) is used for multiple trials. Does the teacher need to include additional K#s/S#s?

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for the question. There is nothing in the administration guidelines regarding Discrete Trail Data Collection Sheets that states there has to be more than one K#/S#. The AGLI that you have indicated does not seem to fit with the example you provided; but Grade 5 ELA AGLI31101 ‘follow verbal directions having one step’ would possibly be an example of an AGLI where the VE could be a Discrete Trial Data Collection Sheet with only one K#/S#. This is just one example. We understand that for many students their discrete trial programs are based on repetition of one specific stimulus (and desired behavior outcome) over many trials, but just remind teachers that this does not provide for varied opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and understanding of an AGLI and that most importantly the student’s individual needs and abilities are taken into account. We hope this helps, please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,
Kelly
