We have a question regarding 5th grade Social Studies (AGLI #12101) Identify New York as his/her state of residence.
The SAT (12101A) states that the student will select a map of New York State from a set of two UNLABELED states…
Can a teacher use a work sample that has towns labeled in the picture of the states (not the state name) or must it only be the blank outline of the states presented? For example, a work sample has a picture of New York (with Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, etc. labeled) and New Jersey (with Newark, Trenton, Camden, etc. labeled). Is this acceptable?
Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for the question. It would be acceptable for the work product to have states with some towns labeled, just as you have outlined below. The “unlabeled” part is referring to the name of the state itself and directions that specifically mention the state of residence for the student; for example, identify New York as your state of residence with two state outlines one stating New York and one stating New Jersey. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,
Kelly
