I have a question regarding the use of Time Segment Data Sheets. The Administrative Manual states “…measures a single step task that can be broken up into increments…”
In 3rd grade ELA, the SAT for AGLI #34107 states “The student will show respect to a speaker by attending to what the speaker is saying and remaining quiet”. Under Possible…Assessment Strategies, it states “Data Collection Sheet (time-segment) recording student performance on the amount of time the student looks at the speaker and remains quiet”. Is it OK for the teacher to be assessing attending and remaining quiet during a segment using the Time-Segment Data Sheet? RESPONSE: RECORDING ATTENDING AND REMAINING QUIET PER SEGMENT IS FINE. IF THE TEACHER DECIDES TO RECORD THE DATA ANOTHER WAY THAT IS ACCEPTABLE ALSO. AS PER THE TRAINING, ANYTIME THERE MIGHT BE A QUESTION, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE TEACHER INCLUDE A NOTATION ON THE VE TO INDICATE HOW THE STUDENT PERFORMANCE DATA WAS TAKEN AND/OR HOW THE PERCENTAGE WAS CALCULATED.
