NYSAA Administration Manual is available

The new manual for the administration of the 2008-09 NYS Alternate Assessment has now been shipped to schools. NYSAA should be administered from October 6, 2008 through February 13, 2009. The manual should be copied by the school administration and distributed to any teacher who needs to administer the NYSAA. Training sessions for the administration in the Capital District Area of NY will be held September 26th at the School Support Services location on 900 Watervliet-Shaker Road. The training will accomodate both teachers who are new to the process as well as teachers who have adminstered it in prior years. For more information about the training call Lisa Mink at 518-464-3979. It is important that everyone be updated on the changes to the assessment which is an annual given thus far. All materials from previous NYSAA administration or scoring should be destroyed. The new manual includes step-by-step procedures on how to administer the '08-'09 NYSAA including an organizational step-by-step description of the process; descriptions of acceptable types of evidence for inclusion in the datafolio; expanded NYSAA Frameworks including revised AGLIs and additional sample assessment tasks; directions regarding how to prepare scorable datafolios and revised standardized forms, checklists and resources for teachers.
